Dignity first
Support should meet people with choice, respect, and room to remain the authors of their own lives.
La Sociedad Ebona is a developing cultural and community organization advancing dignity, education, practical support, philanthropy, and cultural excellence across the African diaspora—honoring people, histories, languages, and traditions that span many nations.
La Sociedad Ebona exists to strengthen community life through culturally grounded programs, education, practical resources, thoughtful philanthropy, and partnerships that honor people’s dignity. Our vision is established even as our formal nonprofit and fiscal-sponsorship documentation continues to develop.
Support should meet people with choice, respect, and room to remain the authors of their own lives.
We invest in ideas and resources that build knowledge, belonging, stability, and opportunity across generations.
We connect neighbors, sponsors, businesses, and institutions around practical public benefit—not empty ceremony.
Every child deserves to feel remembered, celebrated, and included in the warmth of the season. Help us begin with 300 gift cards—and surround them with even more care.
One thoughtfully prepared gift can tell a child: “You were remembered.”
The need first identified included approximately 70 children. We are building with room to reach even more children across the Indianapolis community—with a goal of up to 300 gift cards if support allows.
The cards are only the foundation. With community support, children may also receive stockings, small gifts, cozy winter items, treats, and other thoughtful additions. However a family marks the season—Christmas, Hanukkah, Noël, Yuletide traditions, another celebration, or simply time together—every child should be welcomed with dignity and joy.
The $3,000 starting goal covers approximately 300 gift cards at $10 each. Stockings, cozy winter items, treats, children’s gifts, and other additions are supported separately through further contributions and donated goods.
These are clear impact examples rather than restricted dollar-for-dollar guarantees. Final purchasing may adjust for card values, availability, donated goods, and the children’s ages and needs.
$10–$20 store gift cards give children and families flexibility, choice, and a joyful part in selecting something meaningful.
Age-appropriate toys, books, art supplies, stocking gifts, and other thoughtful surprises for children.
Cozy socks, gloves, hats, scarves, cocoa, sweets, and comforting seasonal additions.
Businesses, organizations, makers, and neighbors can contribute funds, new merchandise, gift cards, or needed services.
La Sociedad Ebona is currently developing its nonprofit structure. Contributions made directly to this campaign are not presently tax-deductible.
Holiday sponsors and community partners are warmly invited to contribute gift cards, children’s gifts, winter items, merchandise, services, or campaign support.
Support the holiday campaignA community food-access concept centered on choice—not a fixed box.
“What is donated is given. What we purchase is offered at low cost.”
La Receta is being designed with two clearly separate inventory lanes. The free pantry comes first in the shopping experience, allowing families to take what they can use at no cost before spending money in the low-cost market.
Donated groceries, surplus food, rescued produce, household necessities, and similar donated items remain free to community members.
Food purchased through wholesale, cooperative buying, farmers, distributors, or similar sources may be offered at a low sustainable price.
We welcome conversations with retailers, neighborhood organizations, educators, cultural institutions, growers, service providers, and companies that want to help build something useful and lasting in Indianapolis.
Interested in holiday sponsorship, gift cards, children’s gifts, winter items, merchandise, services, or a longer-term community partnership? Contact the organizing team and tell us how you would like to participate.
